Giouneika
Giouneika is located near Saint Taksiarches and is overlooking the beach of Paltsi and gazes the Agean Sea.

Those grove are at an altitude of about 160 meters above sea level with South to Southeast orientation and a moderate slope. The soil consistency is Clay and its pH 6,7 (slightlyacidic). At most of this plot the soil is red which signifies the presence of oxidised iron in it. It covers a surface of 1,20 hectars and has about 250 trees. It is the newest addition to our olive groves by longterm rental in 2022.

Cultivars
This plot is home to 2 different cultivars. One of them is the local Amfissis variety which covers about 1/3 of the surface while the other one consist of many relatively young trees of the Chalkidikis variety.
Recent history
This plot has been under our cultivation methods since 2022. When aquired the trees were in bad shape due to maltreatment from the previous owner but with hard work they will eventually get in shape. In the plot there can be found a summer house and smaller storage building.
Future plans
What we would like to achieve is to bring the trees in good shape. Then we would love to produce some olive oil from the Chalkidikis variety fruits and test it in our blends, or make some cured olives as this variety is popular for its great size.
Olive oil characteristics
The olive oil that is produced from this plot by early harvest is a blend of the two varieties. As a result it has less fruity flavor compared to Amfissis variety olive oil but quite pronounced biterness and spiciness.
